Hotmail email was the main free email provider which started on 4th of July, 1996. It was created by Sabeer Bhatia and Jack Smith. The reason behind picking July 4 as a launch day was particularly to characterize liberty, it being Independence Day. The benefit of Hotmail email when it was commercially introduced was that you may look at your email anywhere in the world without a problem.
